Are you experienced?
I have worked within the field of mental health for over 20 years. I have the necessary BACP approved qualifications to be an independent Psychotherapist.
“A psychoanalytic therapist will encourage you to say whatever is going through your mind. This will help you become aware of hidden meanings or patterns in what you do or say that may be contributing to your problems.” - NHS UK
I have worked in various roles within the mental health sector as a practitioner. I have worked with a variety of conditions, across the social sector and with various age ranges. I am more than happy to discuss with you my credentials on your assessment. I am fully insured and DRB checked.
I abide by the ethical guidelines as laid out by the BACP
Why Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a type of therapy used to treat emotional problems and mental health conditions. It involves talking to a trained therapist and can help you discuss feelings you have about yourself and other people
Psychotherapists are mental health professionals who are trained to listen to a person's problems to try to find out what's causing them and help them find a solution.
As well as listening and discussing important issues with you, a psychotherapist can suggest strategies for resolving problems and, if necessary, help you change your attitudes and behaviour.
Confidentiality
You will be treated in the strictest confidence and you will be given more information on this when we meet.
Can I contact you in between sessions?
It is important that we keep to the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship. If you need to let me know that you cannot attend your planned session for any reason, you can send me a text or email. We would not communicate otherwise in between sessions but I could direct you to the available networks if you felt that you needed a “crutch” in between our meetings.
How long will I be in therapy for?
This will depend on many factors. You can opt for a 6-week short course of work, or most popular is “open-ended’; where we work together for as long as is necessary and we come to a natural end when you feel the time is right.
How will I know that this is right for me?
Talking therapy can be beneficial in many ways and you might like to do an Internet search to see people’s personal accounts of how it helped them. This can help you to think about how it might work for you.
What happens if I need to cancel an appointment?
Life can be unpredictable and sometimes situations happen that mean you cannot make an appointment. As with most services, I require a minimum 24 hours notice if you cannot attend and you will be charged 50% of your fee.
